Seven Swords

Description

I recently came across a stack of old pieces from yonks ago, and I'm glad I found this one.
These are a set of weapons used by the Seven main characters in a story I began to write (never finished) back in 2002 ish, I did the swords the same time.

The story itself (a long and complicated back story, so I'll just keep it abridged for this comment) was a fantasy. Fora change, I created a world in which the humans where the anicent and wise species and the Elves where the young, brash race.

Once upon a time, they waged war with the Humans; the humans used large numbers of heaily armoured troops (think Romans, but in full heavy platemail and tower sheilds) so to combat the armor the elves used their superior physical ability to weild massive two-hand great swords which could cleave through the Human's armor.

Loosing the war, the Elves where incorportaed into the Empire; now many centuries later, both species live at peace in a great dominion.

Recently, tensions where growing between the Empire and it's neighbours, the smell of war was in the air as all sides began a rush to train and army massive armies.

A rumour floated in from the fringes stating that a trully almost prehistoricaly ancient evil surged in the uncharted eastern lans but the Empire could do nothing for the cold war was on the brink of turning hot.

The Emperor himself sent for the best warriors in the domain; from distant corners came seven swordsmen of unparreled skill, their reputations exhaulted them as heros in their homelands and now amongst the whole Empire.
The seven where dispatched to travel east, far east, to discover the truth of the rumours and to do what they could for the Empire.

The original names and finer details for the characters I cannot remember today, but the surviving names and drawing of the swords have jogged a few details (but not the character name unfortunatley).

For the most part, the swords where not sheathed, they where wrapped in leather or cloth and simply strapped to the back or horse and otherwise carried by hand.

Baalthaezian - An enormous sword for a behemoth of a man, the Baalthaeezian was weilded by him in great arcs of destructive force.
Not conforming to the stereotype, this warrior was not teh stupid brute but infact the intelleigent mind that infact went on to become the unofficial leader of the swordsmen.

Arenis Quixos - The unusual sword was forged as both weapon and sheild; the skills of the warrior allowed him to charge head first into ranks of archers and use the flat of the unusual hilt as a sheild.

This guy was larger then average but not goliathan like their commander and sported a rather direct and brash attitude to combat, often at the cost of great injury but also great valor.

Nobilisi - This weapon is the standard weapon of the Empires Elven-Swords Regiments and the warrior who weild this is lowly rank-and-file soldier but exhalted as an Imperial hero for his unmatched skill.

The normal sized and looking man, the strong but silent type, was a down to earth common man; he wore the standard armor of the Elven-Swords, the only one of the group to where such military style full armor and helm (and also, the only sword with a scabbard).

Draconix - Forged as the smaller twin of the Baalthaezian, the Draconix was a weapon for the commanders younger brother.
A little more reckless then his older brother but loyal and protective; his style was based on great speed able to engage multiple opponents from differrent directions, he was capable of holding his own against entire squads on his own with relative ease.

Seraphin - The seablade if the pirate in their group, this weapon just screams dirty fighter. The blade was not just sharp and serated for half of one side but the enire surface was covered in razor shap ridges which addedd a rather gory element to this weapons attack vector.

(This resembles a sword from Naruto, a coincidence; I didn't start watching Naruto till about 2005)

Rhoderin - This is an exotic little blade for a crazy little woman; born to one of the slayer clans in the outlying villages, she was recruited as a slayer into the Imperial army.
These rogues are deployed alone, far ahead of the regular army; they penetrated deep into enemy lines an saught out the toughest warrior, creatures and monsters in an army and eradicatd them ahead of the main assault.

The weapon is relativley small for the group but her phenomenal movements and acrobatics, and her habit of plunging the weapon in right down to her elbows, made her devastating against even the largest monsters. She was a little insane to.

Baneblade - Belonging to the other female of the group, the Baneblade was a balanced warsword which is more a hybrid of balde and axe then greatsword. The weapon is weilded with a balance of defence and offence and is built to smash weapons and cleave torsos alike.
